IB1: Introduction to Barbering
Introduction to barbering
Using key elements and skills from the full NVQ courses, our Introduction to Barbering course has been specially created to provide the basic skills for barbering, to the extent that you can complete basic services competently.
This introductory course is ideally suited to people who have no experience in barbering and want to train as a barber within a short time, don’t require an NVQ and wish to offer just basic barbering, perhaps just for friends and family. Upon completion you would receive our own certificate, and you may at a later date consider undertaking a full NVQ.
Course structure: Units included
The units on this course are:
- Introduction to health & safety
- Client consultation
- Knowing your equipment
- Basic barbering techniques
- Finishing techniques
- Facial hair
As part of this course you will complete a small amount of theory, practice some services on training heads and complete a number of services on real clients
Course Duration & dates
This course takes 12 weeks to complete, at 1 day a week (Saturdays)

Eligibility
All teaching is in English, and whilst we endeavour to accommodate those for whom English isn’t their first language, it may be necessary to undertake an English test to ascertain suitability for the course.
Course Fee
The fee for this introductory barbering course is £1895 (fully inclusive), and you can spread the cost by paying a deposit and spreading the cost over up to 3 months with a credit agreement
Training kit
You will need a training kit, optionally available to purchase from us – details available upon request.
You will also need training heads (typically 2), these are available to purchase from us.

This is a non-NVQ course which has been specifically designed to serve as an introduction to barbering and to cover the essentials and basics in a shorter time, and is certificated by us.
